EMDR – Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is an eight-phase, structured therapy approach that is designed to eliminate stuck emotions and link-up old, painful memories with healthy, adaptive information.  The treatment includes elements of several other well-regarded therapy approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral, Client-Centered and Psychodynamic.  Results are often rapid and dramatic.  Many individuals who have had previous and beneficial episodes of therapy find that EMDR is able to finally get to the root of problems that other approaches weren’t. It has been researched extensively for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and is considered a front-line treatment for this disorder by the American Psychological Association and the U.S. Veterans Administration.  It is important to note that EMDR is not appropriate for all people and all disorders.  Screening, evaluation and responses to treatment preparation are assessed prior to initiating any reprocessing.

I have completed the basic training in EMDR as approved by the EMDR International Association.
